The Human
Clown
The clown smiles before the crowd,
he does silly things to make the children smile too,
he’s like me and you.
The pain he feels hurts deep inside,
his heart wants to cry,
he’s like you and I.
His daughter died the other day,
he could not be by her side,
and he cried.
The show must go on is a grand old saying,
used many a time with great success,
he couldn’t care less.
The paint that he wears covers any frown,
no emotions must sneak through,
he’s like me and you.
To show the world just how he feels,
that would be a big mistake,
his smile is a fake.
It keeps the children pouring in and having a real good time,
smiling and laughing at the clown while his body is just praying for time.
Time to be sad for the sorrow he feels,
time to be human,
time to heal.
